Organizing Clothes for Multiple Children
Here we are at that time of year in the south when we put away our shorts and tanks and get out some warmer clothes. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another 80 degree day in the mix this month. I’ve gotten quite a few messages from y’all about organizing clothes for multiple children and honestly, I don’t have a recipe or easy fix for the clothing beast but here are some tips for you that I’ve found help me with switching out seasonal clothes for many children.
⭐️1. If you can, hire someone to help you! I use my babysitter and she just happens to be a stellar cleaner/organizer and it really helps me to have her here to tell me what I should keep or give away. We take it on together and knock it out quickly.
⭐️2. Keep your bins easily accessible. If you have the closet space keep the bins around so that you can put the current season’s clothes in once you’re done and make sure you have the next season’s clothes with the right size easy to get to as well. Write the clothing size on a piece of paper and stick it on the side of the clear bin so you can see it.
⭐️3. For girls, leave nice dresses out no matter the season. I keep all play clothes that still have life left in bins but I try to keep all dresses hanging. It’s easy to decipher which are summer and which are winter and leaving them hanging in the closet means less work. When it’s time to pass down to younger sister we just move them on the hanger. Easy peasy.
⭐️4. Let go. If it has a stain on it that you just can’t get out or there’s a hole in the fabric or it just doesn’t look the way it once did, let it go or throw it away.
⭐️5.On the other hand, hang on. I’m very sentimental about clothes and I love passing them down from sibling to sibling. I’ve actually never sold any of my kids’ nice clothes. All of the smocked dresses, all of the precious little rompers I still have and I’m so glad I do. I want to have things to pass to my grandchildren because I know how much I’ve loved seeing my babies wear the clothes that my mom saved from when I was little. So when you feel that urge to purge think further into the future! Keep some of those sweet things to remember the little years. ☺️
