Butter the Jersey Heifer

⚠️not pumpkin’s baby!!⚠️ just wanted to get that out of the way. 😄 You may have been a little confused if you’ve been watching my stories and that’s understandable! We’re still waiting for Pumpkin to calf but we’ve been loving on our new heifer, Butter 🧈, that we got last weekend at the 4H heifer project kickoff. She’s a registered Jersey that Lael will raise for about 20 months and must keep a detailed record book. She can show Butter at any shows (the SC state fair being a big one), we’ll be responsible for getting her bred, and then at the end of the project we can sell her! Although, Lael really wants to keep her and honestly she’d make a great second family milk cow. We’ll see! But for now, we’re so excited for this new little adventure and Lael is so cute taking care of her new heifer. I really can’t say enough about how incredible it is to watch your child care for, learn about and take responsibility for animals, specifically ones that provide for the family in very significant ways. There’s just something really special about farm life and I love that my kids are getting to grow up living it.
